Edo Pillu was born in Bandung, June 5th 1969 and learned art from ISDF Fotografi Bandung (1989), and ISI Yogyakarta (1990-1996). Mikke Susanto described Edo Pillu's characteristics in "In Between - Perupa dalam Rotasi Media" (2003) as follows:
"On the level where he shows his intention to painting analitically, he made the painting reflect his thinking as a democrat (he called it "aesthetics of democrat") in creating any idea, concept, composition, and the medium. He tried to avoid absoluteness, for instance in the medium of his painting. Edo applied his concept of text using main text and foot note. In his artworks, symbol of the main text was usually placed on the top and the foot note on the bottom."
In 2000, he performed "Knalpot" at Cemeti Art House Yogyakarta and Indonesia Ezpression at Soobin Gallery Singapore. In 2001, Edo Pillu had his own exhibition "Menungso" at Air Art House Jakarta; "Bias Batas" at Edwin Gallery Jakarta; "Seni Persekongkolan 7 Pendusta Profesional" in Yogyakarta and at Air Art House Jakarta.
In 2002, Edo Pillu performed "Alpha Omega Alpha" at Air Art House Jakarta; "Ham-Burger" at Mien Gallery Yogyakarta; Pameran Bersama at Mon Decor Gallery Jakarta; Action Painting "Thekmu Thekno Thekku" at Sanggar Granadalla (LIP Yogyakarta, Teater Utan Kayu Jakarta, Taman Budaya Surakarta, Galeri Soka Tabanan, and Art Center Bali); "Contemporary Indonesia Artists" at MHC Gallery Kanada; "Seni Rupa Nusantara II 2002" at Galeri Nasional Jakarta; "Temu Pelukis Jogya-Manado" at Sahid Kawanua Manado Sulawesi Utara; "Mata Hati Demokrasi" at Taman Budaya Surakarta; and "Re-Kreasi" at Widayat Museum Magelang.
