Entang Wiharso

Entang Wiharso was born in Tegal, Central Java, on August 1967. His art education began in Painting ISI Yogyakarta (1987-1994). Entang is active to participate in various exhibitions in Indonesia, Sout East Asia, Europe, Africa and USA.

Entang has received several awards, such as The Best 36 Indonesian Artists version Gatra Magazine 1996, The Best Ten Philip Morris Indonesian Art Awards, The Best 100 Philip Morris Indonesia Art Awards 1995, Juror Award 1994, Biennale Seni Rupa Yogyakarta IV, Affandi Prize, Yayasan Affandi and ISI Yogyakarta.

Entang creates visual language which is inspired by the iamge of Indonesian tradition, contemporer culture, and image of pop world. He does not try to interpret the form of visual Indonesian tradition or to reproduce the symbol of pop culture, but to manipulate various of images for the sake of personal needs.
